FTMO 100k Lot Size and Drawdown
On a $100,000.00 account, risking 2% ($2,000.00) with a stop of 20 pips, EURUSD sizes to 10.00 lots. One pip on 1.00 lot is $10.00. The loss at that rounded size is $2,000.00, with no spread and no commission.
FTMO's trading objectives page prints the 1-Step and 2-Step loss rules with a $100,000.00 example. This page turns those percentages into the dollar amounts FTMO shows and puts an EURUSD calculator next to them at that balance, with a 20 pip stop. Instant accounts trail differently and are not in the table. The lot grid uses 16, 32, 64 pip stops so it is not the same grid as the EURUSD lot page.
EURUSD contract: 100,000 units per 1.00 lot. 1 pip = 0.0001. A 0.01 lot is $0.10 per pip, a 0.10 lot is $1.00, and 1.00 lot is $10.00. The quote currency is USD, so the 2026-10-15 bundled rates are not applied. Minimum lot 0.01, step 0.01. The lot rounds down, so the loss at the stop stays at or under the risk when spread and commission are left at zero.
The risk table for EURUSD uses stops of 16, 32, 64 pips. On $100,000.00 at 2% those three stops size 12.50 lots, $2,000.00 at the stop; 6.25 lots, $2,000.00 at the stop; 3.12 lots, $1,996.80 at the stop.

Firm rules
Rules checked on 2026-10-15. Purchase-date coverage is not stated on this page. Figures below are FTMO's published percentages of initial simulated capital applied to $100,000.00. The trading objectives page works the 1-Step and 2-Step examples on a $100,000.00 account and does not print a separate dollar table for every size. The how-it-works page lists challenge sizes of $10,000.00, $25,000.00, $50,000.00, $100,000.00 and $200,000.00.
2-Step daily loss amount is 5% of initial simulated capital: $5,000.00 on $100,000.00. FTMO subtracts that amount from the balance at 00:00 CE(S)T. On day 1, while that balance is still $100,000.00, the equity floor is $95,000.00. A later midnight balance moves the floor. The $5,000.00 amount stays tied to the initial capital. Equity, including open profit or loss, swaps and commissions, cannot drop below the floor.
2-Step maximum loss is 10% of initial simulated capital: $10,000.00 on $100,000.00. The floor is static at $90,000.00.
1-Step daily loss amount is 3% of initial simulated capital: $3,000.00 on $100,000.00. Day 1 floor is $97,000.00. The 1-Step maximum loss is also $10,000.00, and it trails the highest balance recorded at 00:00 CE(S)T. The floor can rise and cannot fall. Day 1 floor is $90,000.00.
FTMO Instant uses a 3% daily loss and an intraday trailing 10% maximum. That program is not in the dollar figures above.
Maximum lot: FTMO states that it does not set a universal position-size limit or a cap on risk per trade. Daily loss and maximum loss still apply. The note is not a symbol-by-symbol lot table, and it does not say every lot size will be accepted by the platform.
Questions
What is the FTMO daily loss on a $100,000 2-Step account?
$5,000.00, which is 5% of initial simulated capital. Day 1 floor is $95,000.00 while the midnight balance is still $100,000.00. Later days subtract $5,000.00 from that day's 00:00 CE(S)T balance.
What is the FTMO maximum loss on $100,000?
2-Step: $10,000.00 static, floor $90,000.00. 1-Step: $10,000.00 trailing the highest 00:00 CE(S)T balance, day 1 floor $90,000.00.
What EURUSD lot is 2% of $100,000 with a 20 pip stop?
10.00 lots, loss at the stop $2,000.00. That loss sits inside the $5,000.00 2-Step daily amount and inside the $3,000.00 1-Step daily amount. It is not a suggested risk.
Does FTMO cap the lot on a $100,000 account?
Not with a universal lot number. FTMO says position size and per-trade risk are not universally capped. The daily and maximum loss still end the account if equity breaks the floor.
