FTMO Lot Size Calculator
On a $100,000.00 account, risking 2% ($2,000.00) with a stop of 20 points, US30 sizes to 100.00 lots. One point on 1.00 lot is $1.00. The loss at that rounded size is $2,000.00, with no spread and no commission.
This sizes US30 against FTMO loss limits. The calculator opens at $100,000.00 because that is the account in FTMO's own 1-Step and 2-Step examples, with a 20 point stop. FTMO's trading objectives subtract a daily loss amount, set as a percent of initial simulated capital, from the 00:00 CE(S)T balance. A universal lot cap is not part of that rule.
US30 contract: 1 units per 1.00 lot. This size is an assumption and differs by platform. 1 point = 1. A 0.01 lot is $0.01 per point, a 0.10 lot is $0.10, and 1.00 lot is $1.00. A 0.01 lot is under the 0.10 minimum, so the 0.01 value is math only. The quote currency is USD, so the 2026-10-15 bundled rates are not applied. Minimum lot 0.10, step 0.10. The lot rounds down, so the loss at the stop stays at or under the risk when spread and commission are left at zero.
The risk table for US30 uses stops of 30, 60, 120 points. On $100,000.00 at 2% those three stops size 66.60 lots, $1,998.00 at the stop; 33.30 lots, $1,998.00 at the stop; 16.60 lots, $1,992.00 at the stop.

Firm rules
Rules checked on 2026-10-15. Purchase-date coverage is not stated on this page. Figures below are FTMO's published percentages of initial simulated capital applied to $100,000.00. The trading objectives page works the 1-Step and 2-Step examples on a $100,000.00 account and does not print a separate dollar table for every size. The how-it-works page lists challenge sizes of $10,000.00, $25,000.00, $50,000.00, $100,000.00 and $200,000.00.
2-Step daily loss amount is 5% of initial simulated capital: $5,000.00 on $100,000.00. FTMO subtracts that amount from the balance at 00:00 CE(S)T. On day 1, while that balance is still $100,000.00, the equity floor is $95,000.00. A later midnight balance moves the floor. The $5,000.00 amount stays tied to the initial capital. Equity, including open profit or loss, swaps and commissions, cannot drop below the floor.
2-Step maximum loss is 10% of initial simulated capital: $10,000.00 on $100,000.00. The floor is static at $90,000.00.
1-Step daily loss amount is 3% of initial simulated capital: $3,000.00 on $100,000.00. Day 1 floor is $97,000.00. The 1-Step maximum loss is also $10,000.00, and it trails the highest balance recorded at 00:00 CE(S)T. The floor can rise and cannot fall. Day 1 floor is $90,000.00.
FTMO Instant uses a 3% daily loss and an intraday trailing 10% maximum. That program is not in the dollar figures above.
Maximum lot: FTMO states that it does not set a universal position-size limit or a cap on risk per trade. Daily loss and maximum loss still apply. The note is not a symbol-by-symbol lot table, and it does not say every lot size will be accepted by the platform.
Questions
Does FTMO set a maximum lot size?
FTMO says it does not set a universal position-size limit or a per-trade risk cap. The maximum daily loss and the maximum loss still apply. That is not a promise that every symbol accepts any lot.
What US30 lot fits a $100,000 FTMO account at 2%?
With the assumed 1-per-lot contract, a stop of 20 points, and no spread, the size is 100.00 lots and the loss at the stop is $2,000.00. Compare that loss with the daily loss amount for the program you actually bought.
Is the FTMO daily loss 5% or 3%?
2-Step is 5% of initial simulated capital. 1-Step is 3%. Both are subtracted from the 00:00 CE(S)T balance. Instant is a separate 3% rule and is not the figure used for this page's 2-Step and 1-Step dollars.
Where are the FTMO dollar limits?
The $100,000.00 and $10,000.00 pages list the day-1 floors. This page is the lot calculator next to the rule, not a second copy of every floor.
